Wedmore Big Tidy Up
Our first litter pick of 2011 on Sunday 27 March began with a special service at St Mary's Church in Wedmore led by the Curate, Eddie Wills.
About 30 adults and four children collected litter from most of the roads around Wedmore. Allington Environmental Group and Bagley Baptist Church joined in as usual.
The total collected was about 25 bags for landfill plus a load of recyclables – 254 cans, 40 glass bottles and two massive bags of plastic bottles.
We have a small number of litter 'grabbers' (long-handled pickers) and hoops for holding open plastic bags. Anybody in the local area is welcome to borrow them – contact Rob Richley on 01934 713802.
We collect litter in co-ordination with the Keep Britain Tidy's Big Tidy Up – details here: http://www.thebigtidyup.org/tidyups_group.aspx?id=2172
